Following the success of the Kai/Toi zone during the Māoriland Film Festival in March, we’re bringing that same space back to life for Matariki Ramaroa. This year, festival-goers can look forward to a transformed space behind Memorial Hall, featuring a lively stage, grass area, and cosy mats and bean bags – perfect for relaxing and soaking in the atmosphere. Matariki Ramaroa will once again light up the heart of Ōtaki with live music, sweet, savoury and specialty food trucks, bouncy castles, market stalls, and art displays. There will be something for everyone, from tamariki to kaumātua!

Live on stage:

FREQZ: Gram b2b Jday (Ngā Puhi, Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Hāua and Niue) – This DJ duo hails from South Auckland and brings with them a passion for the arts and community. For Matariki, they will be using the time and space to mix classics with upbeat music like Afro, Amapiano and
House.

Devon Welch (Kai Tahu, Ngāti Waewae) – The soulful singer/MC weaving together funk, hip hop and soul with just his voice, guitar and looper.

(Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Kahungunu, Tūhoe) – Touring her powerful debut album Breakfast with Hades, MĀ fuses soul, hip hop, Te Reo Māori, and trip hop beats with rich instrumentation including loops, live instruments, brass, harp and even a thumb piano. Beneath
the good vibes, her music carries a deeper message that resonates.

And that’s not all... expect surprises throughout the day and a few special moments we’re keeping under wraps.

Come together to spend this mid-winter day in the warmth of connection.
Nau mai, haere mai!
