About the trail
Campbell Mill’s road is a wide, easy 4WD track that leads up Maungakotukutuku Road toward the Akatarawa Forest. It features stunning views of Kāpiti Coast, Kapiti Island, Whareroa Farm and Queen Elizabeth Park.
It is a key connector route between the top of the Five Ways Track, the Horse Track, and Catchment View Track in Whareroa Farm.
Getting there and know before you go
- By car, exit State Highway 1 at Mackay’s Crossing just north of Paekākāriki. Head north along Emerald Glen then Waterfall Road (unsealed road for 1km) to Valley Road, then turn up Maungakotukutuku Road.
- There is a small car park at the trailhead, at the base of the hill and a stile to access the start of the trail.
- You can also access this trail from others in Whareroa Farm Reserve including the Five Ways Track or Horse Track.
- Toilets are available at the Whareroa Farm car park and at the top of Farm Race Track.
- This reserve is a working farm, and some trails cross through paddocks with livestock. Be respectful, close gates behind you, and don’t bring dogs.
- Logging trucks may use Campbell’s Mill Road so beware of machinery.
