Part of Visa Wellington On a Plate 2025, Illicit Love is a prohibition-style speakeasy party packed with jazz, cocktails, and a little mischief — hidden right in the heart of the Kāpiti Coast.
Step into a world of secrets and let loose at this one-night-only (well… four nights, if you're lucky) immersive event at The Bond Store. You’ll slip past the watchful eye of the ‘authorities’ and into a 1920s-inspired speakeasy — where love is bold, the drinks flow freely, and the music never stops.
The space will be completely transformed, roaring twenties-style, with live 1920s jazz arranged by local talent Jess Deacon, actors led by the legendary Ben Wakefield (Zero Waste), and a cast of colourful characters inviting you to play along. Expect spontaneous moments, cheeky storytelling, and a few surprises throughout the night.
Cocktails will be flowing thanks to The Bond Store’s award-winning spirits, and shared plates will be prepared by Seriously Pickled, using as many local Kāpiti ingredients as they can get their hands on. Think indulgent, decadent, and designed for dancing — or ducking into a corner booth to whisper something scandalous.
So, dust off your flapper dresses, don your best pinstripes, and bring your partner in crime. Just remember... loose lips sink ships. The password’s at the door.
