Calling all budding poets and hopeless romantics — your table awaits.

Part of Visa Wellington On a Plate 2025, Love Language is a one-night-only celebration of food, poetry, and connection — told through four beautifully crafted courses.

Love Language is a four-course food and poetry degustation that brings this year’s festival theme, Food is Love, to life in the most heartfelt of ways.

Set within Lustre Kitchen & Dining’s intimate Paraparaumu Beach venue, this special evening combines thoughtful food, poetic expression, and community storytelling. Join renowned Wellington writer, critic, musician and poet Simon Sweetman, as he reads from his own work — and invites guests to share their own poems too, if they’re feeling bold.

Chef Brothers Tim and Aaron Banks will craft a seasonal, heartfelt menu using locally sourced ingredients from small-scale, sustainable producers like Conscious Valley Farm and Crooked Vege. Each course will reflect their commitment to food that honours people, place, and purpose — and maybe even include a line or two of poetry from the chefs themselves.

Guests are invited to bring a poem inspired by the theme Food is Love — whether it’s romantic, nostalgic, funny or deeply personal. All are welcome, from Keats to kitchen-sink. Spot prizes will be awarded for categories such as Most Obviously Foodie and Most Related to the Theme.

Includes four lovingly prepared courses, a welcome glass of bubbles on arrival, and plenty of soulful conversation.
