About the trail

Starting at the aptly named Tui Crescent, the Parata Track begins with small streams and bridges where the calls of tūī and pīwakawaka can often be heard.

The track then begins a steady climb, weaving through a remnant forest rich with native Nikau Palms and towering Kohekohe Trees, their dense canopy providing cool shade on warm summer days. The path can be muddy in sections, especially after rainfall, so caution is advised.

The climb leads to a lookout offering views over the coastline and the Reikorangi Valley, making for a rewarding pause before the return journey.

For those wishing to extend their hike, the track connects with the Te Au Track for a more challenging experience.
